It’s the Holidays. Let’s Talk About Everything BUT Work

- We know, you don’t want to talk about marketing. Great, neither do we. Let’s make sure you’re relaxed and rejuvenated this time of year -

It’s the end of the year, and the holidays are here. They’re here! You made it! You work so hard.

Nobody gives you the credit you deserve. Hey. We see you. You’re great and you really killed it this year. We know it.

You know what else we know? You don’t want to talk about marketing, work, or anything legitimately productive right now. So, let’s talk about things that are really important this time of year: relaxing, rejuvenating, filling your cup, & making the season even a little easier with all the family events we know you have to “sit through/enjoy/love/dread” (pick one, it’s multiple choice). The best way to really experience the joy you deserve this festive season is to be prepared with a list that’s helpful to you.

So here are some tips you truly need right now, as far away from work as possible:

  1. How to deal with indigestion after your Christmas Ham: Tums. Pepto. Alka. The tripod. But there are other helpers, too…ginger ale, chamomile tea, BRAT (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast), and a heating pad. All good options. But we have the one you need to hear most, and it’s truly the most essential: Stop eating that ham so fast, you animal. Small bites. Chew. Digest. Repeat. Just…take a breath and be an adult, there’s no rush.

  2. How to get your relatives off your couch: Raise your hand if you like your creepy uncle and his odd wife overstaying their welcome after you hosted the holidays. Anyone? No? Shocker. We got your solution. You have to get ahead of the game: tell your unwanted relatives up front you’re fumigating the house December 26th. It was the only day they had! You have no choice! Everybody out. If that doesn’t work, there’s always ol’ bed bugs. You’re clean, we know you don’t have them. But Babs and Dilbert don’t.

  3. How to preemptively deal with your NYE hangover: There are some steps you can take to help yourself out January 1. We mean this, we’re not being funny…drink a ton of water! Get sleep December 30th! Eat greasy food before you start drinking to coat your stomach! Milk thistle is real, not just an old wives’ tale! And if you really want to get saucy, there are some lovely pre-alcohol probiotic drinks you can find online that do the trick. Live life, don’t pay for it later.

Lastly, self-care this time of year is of the utmost importance. For some, we know the holidays are a time of joy. But for others, it can be stressful and challenging. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed, exhausted, lonely, or depressed after the holidays. Fortunately, there are some AI tools that can offer a helping hand with personalized and convenient ways to be mindful of your mental health:

  1. Wysa: Tan AI chatbot that uses a cute penguin to monitor your mood and emotions. It can also teach you cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) skills, mindfulness techniques, and positive psychology exercises to help you cope with stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.

  2. Youper: An AI assistant that helps you understand and improve your emotional health. It can also provide you with personalized feedback, insights, and recommendations based on your mood, personality, and goals. You can also track your progress and achievements over time.

  3. Woebot: An AI therapist that uses a friendly robot to chat with you and offer you support. It can also guide you through CBT lessons, mood tracking, and journaling to help you change your negative thoughts and behaviors. It can also suggest relevant resources and activities to boost your well-being.

We hope these tips help you in some way have a happy season. And from This Feels Right to you, we truly hope your holidays are nothing but the best with the people you love. Thank you to all of our clients and readers, and we can’t wait to see you in the new year. Here’s to 2024 being the best yet!
